Structural Engineer
JMD is looking to fill a full-time structural engineer position in Western New York. The preferred candidate would be located in either the Greater Buffalo or Rochester, NY areas.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Perform in-depth structural inspections
Perform structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, and timber structures
Prepare contract drawings using Microstation and / or AutoCAD
Prepare contract specifications
Prepare cost estimates and quantity takeoffs
Review shop drawings
Respond to questions / changes during construction
Assist with proposal preparation and marketing tasks, as needed
Perform QA/QC reviews on work of others
Assist with field investigations and / or design needs of others, as necessary
Required Qualifications:
BS in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural course work (MS Preferred)
NY Licensed Professional Engineer (or the ability to obtain within 12 months)
5 – 10 years of structural engineering experience for both new and rehabilitation projects
Familiarity with various design codes and manuals including: ACI 318 & 350, AISC Steel Construction Manual, AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, AREMA Manual
FEM experience working with SAP 2000
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work well in a team environment
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of our growing company
Must have own transportation
Willingness to travel; mostly within WNY, but on occasion overnight travel may be required
